The Croton-Harmon school board approved a $127,056.66 change order for a new air-conditioning unit in the existing high-school cafeteria on November 6, 2025, as part of a lengthy series of capital-project approvals. The six trustees present voted yes on the Clean Air Quality Service, Inc. change order and the other consent-agenda items. Spencer Field work included $19,211.88 to retrofit anchor bolts at existing concrete pole bases and $7,361.57 for upgraded conduit and a path for the concession-stand grinder pump, both through ER Electric Corp. Trustees also approved an $8,500.00 Tribeca Air Conditioning Corp. change order for additional exhaust in the concession stand’s storage room. Separate from those votes, trustees held first readings of a new Student Privacy Policy 5550 and revisions covering media relations, withholding consent for school media, professional-service contracting and disclosure of wrongful conduct. Policy Committee Chair Neal Haber described recording limits for events closed to the public and proposed changes to emergency-service procurement and complaint investigations. The board did not adopt those policies at this meeting. Board President Ana Teague asked whether the media-relations policy defined who counted as media. Haber said the committee would discuss that question. During public comment, Jeff Hirsch of Wait Until 8th welcomed the district’s bell-to-bell cellphone ban but objected to allowing cellphone use during open lunch and urged continued collaboration. Parents also spoke in support of universal prekindergarten. Jacob Day asked the district to fund UPK on behalf of concerned parents, while other speakers urged continued access to the program and described their families’ experiences at Childrenspace North. Superintendent Stephen Walker presented elementary-school English language arts proficiency data, including third- and fourth-grade trends and regional comparisons. Principal Kerri Bianchi discussed instructional coaching, professional learning, teacher empowerment and added support staff.
