The Croton-Harmon school board accepted the resignation of Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School Principal Michael Plotkin on September 18, 2025, effective at the end of October 16. All six trustees voting on the resolution supported it. The minutes give no reason for the resignation. This article is written solely from the meeting's official minutes; croton.news had no reporter present. The work session’s presentation concerned building goals for 2025–26. Superintendent Stephen Walker introduced leadership teams from Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School, Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School and Croton-Harmon High School. The minutes identify the presenters but do not describe the individual school goals. A series of approved DeRosa Sports Construction, Inc. change orders added work to the athletic and security projects. At the elementary school, $38,400.00 covered removal and off-site disposal of fill from a hill, and $19,014.98 covered concrete light-pole bases. Another $26,950.29 covered extended asphalt repaving between the District Office and Spencer Field, along with motor-cover assemblies and associated power and sensor cable. At the middle school, a $7,150.00 change order covered additional concrete beneath existing shade shelters that had been relocated at the athletic field. A separate $45,066.48 order covered removing and reinstalling an asphalt driveway, excavating a trench, installing conduits and replacing underground wiring. The six trustees voted yes on the consent agenda containing these changes. Trustees also approved the high-school Explorers’ Club’s overnight trip to Hawaii from June 30 through July 8, 2026, to study its culture, history, architecture, art and natural features. A renewal of tent, stage and chair rental services with Cartwright & Daughters totaled $29,793.95, including a $27,695.85 base renewal and a $2,098.10 damage waiver. Personnel actions included appointing Cori Martineau and Amy Yannarelli-Shaw as tutors and home instructors at $60 an hour, effective September 19. The board also approved two $1,000 stipends for transition support and planning for multilingual learners. Routine consent items included non-instructional appointments, July and August treasurer’s reports, and approval of the September 4 meeting minutes. During board reports, Neal Haber described a September 10 regionalization meeting at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. Participating districts were to indicate preferences among four focus areas by September 30. Walker said the district team had yet to discuss those choices and intended to participate actively. Omar Mayyasi reported that the Audit Committee would review the external audit on October 9 and present findings to the board that day.
