Regulations for Adult-Use Cannabis Dispensaries
After discussion, Local Law Introductory No. 16 of 2026 has been drafted by the Village Attorney
and Village Planner for the Village Board’s review. This local law provides definitions for adult-use
cannabis retail dispensaries and public youth facilities, as well as updates the definition for vape and
tobacco shops.
Additionally, the law provides supplementary regulations for cannabis dispensaries. These regulations
have been drafted in conformance with the guidelines provided in the Cannabis Law as enacted by
the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA).
At this point, the Village Board needs to provide guidance as to the locations/zoning district where
you would like to permit adult-use cannabis dispensaries to operate. Once there is consensus on that
decision, the draft law will be updated and it can move forward with being circulated to the appropriate
parties (Westchester County Planning Board, Village Planning Board, Waterfront Advisory
Committee).
