Arboretum has a long-term lease agreement for Village-owned property. This is not a Village Committee-a Board Liason is invited to attend meetings. 2nd Thursday 7-8pm Zoom Cara and Brian Arts & Humanities Council On May 20, 2019, the Village Board of Trustees established the Arts & Humanities Advisory Council (AHAC) to work to support increased public awareness and appreciation for the arts, the integration of art into our public spaces, and to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our local arts community. The AHAC shall advise the Village on matters that the Village may refer to the Council and may, from time to time, bring relevant matters to the Village’s attention for consideration related to the charter of the Council. In addition to the foregoing, it shall promote and stimulate interest and participation Village-wide in arts and humanities events in public venues, and may work not only with the Village, but with the schools, private corporations, individuals, non-profit organizations, and other community groups to do so. Sherry Horowitz & Valerie Leis (co- chairs) Advisory - created by Board Res 1st Tuesday 7-8pm Library Maria and Nora Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee The Bicycle Pedestrian Committee was created to advise the Mayor and Board of Trustees on matters related to walking and biking in our Village. We envision a Village where our roads are safe and inviting for all modes of transportation. We endeavor to preserve our historic network of sidewalks and streets and promote long-range plans that improve access to all sections of our Village for persons of all ages and levels of mobility. Matthew Arnold Advisory - created by Board Res 3rd Thursday 7-8pm Muncipal Building Brian and Len Conservation Advisory Council The Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) was established to preserve and improve the quality of the natural and manmade environment within the Village, in the face of population growth, urbanization and technological change, with their accompanying demands on natural resources. The CAC is a necessary step in fostering unified action on environmental problems. John Ealer Advisory - created by Village Code 2nd Tuesday of the Month, 7:30pm-8:3Muncipal Building Brian and Nora HEART Committee The HEART Committee, formally established by Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson on May 22, 2024, is a community-oriented body designed to recognize and honor significant contributions to the village. This committee is a successor to the 125th Anniversary Committee, which was sunsetted following its successful efforts in celebrating the village's milestone anniversary. Carolyn Whiting Advisory - created by Board Res IDEA Committee The IDEA Committee (used to be Diversity and Inclusion Committee) was created by the Board of Trustees on November 5, 2018. The committee was created to develop and implement programs designed to create a spirit of diversity and inclusion for all that live, work in, and visit the Village of Croton-on-Hudson. Additionally, the Committee will work to promote the diversity goals of the Village - to understand and respond to the needs of an increasingly diverse community – and encourage respect and tolerance for those individual differences that enrich our community, Cristina Alvarez Arnold Advisory - created by Board Res 4th Thursday 6pm-7:30pm Muncipal Building Cara and Nora Fire Council The Fire Council, which consists of the three chiefs and two representatives from each of the five companies, governs the operations of the Fire Department. The Village Board serves as the Board of Fire Commissioners, with ultimate authority over the Fire Department. Phil Dinkler Hybrid - created by state law Last Tuesday at 7pm Harmon Firehouse Len and Brian Lorraine Hansberry Coalition The Lorraine Hansberry Coalition (LHC), established in February 2021, is part of the IDEA Advisory Committee of Croton-on-Hudson, NY. It is dedicated to celebrating the life of acclaimed playwright, author, and activist Lorraine Hansberry and her connection with Croton-on-Hudson. A volunteer-driven group, we create innovative and inclusive opportunities that reflect the values and ideals by which Hansberry led her life, and welcome new members to join! Lynda Jones subcommittee of IDEA 1st Tuesday of the Month Zoom Nora Library Croton Free Library is overseen by a board of eleven trustees who serve for staggered five-year terms. New board members are announced each spring at the annual meeting. The duties and responsibilities of the trustees have been established in the Croton Free Library Charter and follow the New York State Education Law. This is not a Village Committee-a Board Liason is invited to attend meetings. 2nd Monday at 7:30pm Library Maria and Nora 1st Monday of the Month, 7pm-8pm Muncipal Building Len and Brian Planning Board The Planning Board's responsibility is to review proposals affecting land use in the Village. The Board processes all applications for subdivisions, site plans, minor site plans and change of use. The Planning Board also advises the Village Board and makes recommendations to them on the granting of special permits, zoning changes, and improvements or new construction of Village-owned projects. The Board has five members with 5-year staggered terms. Robert Luntz Statutory - created by Village Code 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the Month 8pm Muncipal Bldg Len and Nora Police Advisory Committee The Village Board set forth the following responsibilities for the Committee: such Committee shall advise the Chief of Police on issues and concerns of interest to local residents, make recommendations regarding recruitment and training policies and practices, undertake and organize educational outreach initiatives, in conjunction and coordination with the Chief of Police, to Village residents, particularly members of the Spanish-speaking and youth communities, and assess the needs and priorities for the future law enforcement administration of the Village. Carolyn Whiting Advisory - created by Board Res 1st and 3rd Thursday at 6pm Muncipal Bldg Nora and Maria Recreation Advisory Committee The Recreation Advisory Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Recreation Department and the Village Board. The Committee acts as a liaison between the Community and the Village Board on programs, area, facilities, public relations and other matters pertaining to recreation. Debi Braddick Advisory - created by Board Res 2nd Monday at 7pm Muncipal Bldg Nora and Maria Sustainability Committee Created in 2009, Croton’s Sustainability Committee (SC) was chartered by the Village’s Board of Trustees to help reduce the climate impacts of the Village’s municipal operations. To that end, the SC has researched, developed, and recommended a variety of options that reduced emissions while saving money in the process. Among those options are: LED street and building lighting, cleaner fuels, and use of electric vehicles and chargers. Other efforts have involved community gardens, residential energy efficiency and solar power programs, and solid waste reduction. To help reduce emissions due to power consumed by homes and businesses, the SC fostered group purchasing of renewable power through Community Choice Aggregation (CCA). Members of the SC include sustainability advocates, energy consultants, and engineers. The SC usually meets on the 3rd Sunday of the month; please check the Village calendar on the homepage for specific dates. Lindsay Audin Advisory - created by Board Res 3rd Sunday at 10 AM Zoom Brian and Len Water Control Commission The Water Control Commission is charged with protecting the public interest, general health, safety, and economic and general welfare of the citizens of the village by providing for the protection, preservation, proper maintenance and use of its wetlands, water bodies and watercourses by preventing damage from erosion or siltation, minimizing disturbance, preserving natural habitats and protecting against flood and pollution. The Water Control Commission consists of five resident members, qualified by training or experience in engineering, in water- related science, community planning, conservation, landscape architecture, wildlife management, forestry, ecology, hydrology or other related business/profession. The members are appointed by the Mayor and subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees. Each member of the Commission serves for a term of five years. Stuart Greenbaum Statutory - created by Village Code As Needed Municipal Bldg Len and Maria Waterfront Advisory Committee The Waterfront Advisory Committee (WAC) advises, assists and makes recommendations of consistency to the lead agency in its review of actions and in the implementation of the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program, its policies and projects. The committee has five members appointed on a yearly basis by the Mayor, consisting of members of the Board of Trustees, the Planning Board, the Water Control Commission, and, at the Mayor’s discretion, the village’s environmental consultant. The Waterfront Advisory Committee meets at a mutually convenient day and time when an application has been referred to the committee. Advisory - created by Village Code As Needed Municipal Bldg Cara and Len Zoning Board of Appeals The Zoning Board of Appeals meets on the second Wednesday of each month to consider applications regarding the interpretation of the Zoning Code, for special permits, and for variances from the Zoning Code.
