Re:
Funding from State Senator Harckham
I have been notified by State Senator Peter Harckham’s office that the Village will be receiving an
additional $100,000 in funding through the Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and
Technology (CREST) program. This is in addition to the $100,000 that was received earlier this year
that was designated for the Dobbs Park playground replacement project. We have also received a
$100,000 allotment this year from State Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg, which is being designated
for the sidewalks along South Riverside Avenue and Municipal Place.
As the paperwork for the funding must be submitted as soon as possible, I would like some guidance
from the Village Board as to how the funds should be allocated. CREST program funds can generally
be spent on projects with a useful life of 10 or more years. Some examples of appropriate expenditures
would be construction, water/sewer infrastructure, sidewalks, heavy duty vehicles, etc.
Based on our capital plan, some potential projects to which we could apply the funds would be:
-
Farrington Road steps
-
New sidewalks along South Riverside Avenue & Municipal Place
-
Roof replacement for Harmon Firehouse
-
New senior bus
-
Gouveia Park improvements
-
Brook Street drainage improvements
The above is not an exhaustive list, so additional projects may qualify if they fall within the general
guidelines. Please let me know if you have any questions.
