For some time now all the residents have been aware of the irregular cell phone service in the Village. We are in the process of developing an overall plan to improve the situation in a meaningful way. To that end, we have been doing testing and are searching for solutions. We’d like your help to confirm problem areas and explore different possible options. Thank you for your help. 1. What is your current cellular service provider (check as many boxes as appropriate)? Fair E. Poor 3. Where do you feel it is most important to improve cell service within the Village? (Please try to be specific by using road names and intersections, if possible. In order to improve the quality of your cell service, assuming every possible consideration would be given to safety and visual impact, would you support a new tower being built in your neighborhood? A. Yes B. No 5. The most common type of cell tower is known as a monopole. It is the type of tower that currently exists at the train station (140 feet high), as pictured below. This is the type of tower that the cell service providers generally prefer, and there will be limited ability to control what is proposed. A Monopole (height of 140’) Other options may be available. Below are some examples of some “hidden” cell towers that could be constructed. However, the choice of any of these will also be site specific. A. Yes B. No 6. If you think you could support a new tower in your neighborhood, and understanding that the taller the tower is, the stronger the signal will be, how tall of a tower would you accept. Please note that as a general rule of thumb, the height of a two-story house is typically between 18 to 25 feet from the ground to the roof ridge. A. 75 feet B. 100 feet C. 150 feet D. Whatever height is necessary to provide the best possible service 7. There are areas in our Village that may only be able to be well served by “Small cell” installations (such as the ones shown below). Small cells have a much smaller coverage than the towers and therefore more of them will be needed to service those areas where service cannot be improved by additional towers.
