Subject: National Police Week, May 15-21, 2026
Date: January 18, 2026
The Police Advisory Committee recommends that the Village of Croton on Hudson
formally recognize the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department during National
Police Week.
• The police department is in the process of creating a police department flag
utilizing the Village approved police patch.
• The PAC recommends that the Village host a flag raising ceremony on the
flagpole at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building.
a) Invite boy scouts and girl scouts to attend and school children to sing.
b) A light lunch of sandwiches or mid-morning bagels and coffee or cake
and coffee be supplied by the Village. This allows time for residents and
officers to interact.
c) The village purchase pins for the Trustees, Manager Healy, PAC members
to wear at the ceremony, and pins for all Croton Police Officers to wear
on their uniform for the week. The National Law Enforcement Officer
Memorial flag pin: Approximately $400 for 40 pins. Lapel Pin - Cross
American and Memorial Flags | NLEOMF Gift Shop or the Rose and Shield lapel
pin. Lapel Pin - Rose & Shield Bar | NLEOMF Gift Shop
• The village plant blue flowers around the flagpole or in a prominent location
on the outside property of the Municipal Building.
• Have a formal announcement about National Police week by the Village
Board at a Board of Trustees meeting. Formally thank all Croton officers for
their service to our village.
• The Village Board announce all police officers who received medals/awards
within the past year. Officers’ families may be invited and photos to be
taken. All award information to be shared on the Village website, Village
social media and with the Gazette.
• Any additional ideas Manager Healy and the Village Board may have to
recognize and honor our police officers.
