Croton River Parking Survey Report Village of Croton-on-Hudson May 15, 2023 Background: In the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, parking is currently prohibited on certain areas of Truesdale Drive, Nordica Drive and Cedar Lane on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day to Labor Day, in part due to the large number of individuals who park along these roadways and attempt to access the Croton River and Croton Gorge Unique Area through private property. During a special Work Session to discuss parking rules on Tuesday, May 4, 2023, the Board of Trustees discussed using the resident connection system, Everbridge, to conduct a survey of residents who fall within the current parking restriction zone. On May 8, the following sample survey was approved: Q. The Village of Croton-on-Hudson is surveying residents regarding the parking restrictions near the Croton River. Please select the option with which you agree. 1. The current restrictions are working and sufficient. 2. The current restrictions are working, but additional restrictions are needed on weekdays. 3. The current restrictions are a nuisance, but sufficient. 4. The current restrictions are a nuisance and should be repealed. Survey & Results: On May 10, a notice was sent to the households within the parking restriction zone via the Everbridge system. Residents were informed that a parking survey would be sent out Thursday, May 11 at 7:00 PM via phone, email, and text. Residents were given 72 hours to complete the survey. Of the 73 households contacted, 36 responded and 37 did not respond (a 49% response rate). Of the contacts listed within the households, a total of 43 individual residents answered the survey, 100 did not respond, and 66 were listed as unreachable (e.g., they had duplicate information in the system, a disabled landline, or moved). Of the 43 respondents, 40% say the current restrictions are working, but additional restrictions are needed on weekdays. 30% of respondents say the current restrictions are working and sufficient. 9% say the restrictions are a nuisance, but sufficient. 21% say the restrictions are a nuisance and should be repealed.
