On motion of TRUSTEE ---, seconded by TRUSTEE ---, the following resolution was
adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, New York with a -
vote.
Resolution #118 -2026
WHEREAS, the Village’s law regarding the prior notice of defects was adopted in
1977 and has not been amended since that time; and
WHEREAS, new methods of communication have developed over the past 49 years
to share notices with the Village; and
WHEREAS, the New York Conference of Mayors has recommended that
municipalities review these sections of their municipal code to address how notices
are required to be delivered; and
WHEREAS, Local Law Introductory No. 8 of 2026 has been drafted for such
purposes; and
WHEREAS, a Public Hearing on Local Law Introductory No. 8 of 2026 was opened
and closed on June 17, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board has determined that the adoption of Local Law
Introductory No. 8 of 2026 to be a Type II action under the State Environmental
Quality Review Act, requiring no environmental review,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Village Board of Trustees hereby
adopts Local Law Introductory No. 8 of 2026 to amend Chapter 197, Streets and
Sidewalks, of the Village Code to update the provisions related to prior notice of
defects, which upon adoption becomes Local Law No. 7 of 2026.
