John H. Nikitopoulos Croton on Hudson N.Y. 10520 Chief of Police (914) 271-5177 Voice (914) 271-3916 Fax July 31, 2023 Village Manager Healy, Mayor Pugh and Board of Trustees, During the last thirty days, the Police Department has been involved in two motor vehicle accidents resulting in two of our marked patrol cars being taken out of service. The first accident occurred on June 24. The second accident occurred on July 24. Unfortunately, both patrol cars have been totaled by our insurance company. Due to the difficulty in locating Police Rated Vehicles it is hard to predict when, or if we will be able to secure another Hybrid vehicle, but we are still actively looking to locate one. It is also difficult to locate and secure a regular crash rated police vehicle, and even more difficult to secure one for our department because all police agencies are having the same issue. With that being said, we have located a 2023 Police Vehicle at a dealership in New Jersey. As such, I am asking for approval and funding in the amount of $58,000.00 to purchase and upfit it and an additional $58,000.00 in the event we are able to locate a second vehicle. At this time, I am unsure of the amount of reimbursement from our insurance carrier, but we do expect to receive fair market value. I am requesting the emergency funding so we can secure that vehicle for our department without the risk of losing this to another agency. As always, thanks for your support.
