To: From: Date: February 24, 2022 Re: Upper Village Traffic Study In the Fall of 2019, the Village engaged Provident Design Engineering to conduct a traffic study of the Upper Village area surrounding the “Dummy Light” intersection of Grand Street and Old Post Road South. As a result of this traffic study, four possible solutions were proposed that ranged in cost from $10,000 to $750,000. These solutions were as simple as just putting some paint on the pavement and erecting signs to the installation of a roundabout. After a number of discussions amongst the members of the Board, no decision was made. The last discussion was held in early March 2020; the COVID-19 pandemic began shortly thereafter and the discussion was tabled. I have recently met with Matt Arnold, the new chair of the Bicycle-Pedestrian Committee, who expressed a renewed hope for a decision on the traffic study. I invite the Board, especially those who have been elected since the last discussion, to review the enclosed backup materials. I look forward to the discussion regarding this traffic study.
