DPW garage inspection machine - Transfer from contingency

The DPW garage is licensed as a DMV diesel inspection station. This allows us to inspect our fleet
throughout the year, as necessary.
NYS DMV is requiring all diesel inspection stations to update their inspection machines and
software. These new machines must be in place by December 2022. In order to meet the new
requirements, we are requesting $8,000 to be placed in to this year’s operating fund (A1640.4200).
While the mandate was rumored for a few years, a clear schedule was not given until very recently.
This expense was not budgeted because we were not sure when the requirement would take place.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best Regards,
Frank Balbi, P.E.
