Holidays & Vacation:
Vacation – The Personnel Assistant will be allowed 20 vacation days to be used during the fiscal year
in which they have been earned. Any unused vacation will be added to sick leave days unless the
Personnel Assistant chooses to roll up to two vacation days into the new school year. It is understood
that these two (2) additional vacation days are to be used in the new school year and are not
cumulative.
If in the event that the Personnel Assistant leaves the service of the district and has taken more
vacation time than has been earned (1.66 days per month), then she would be responsible for
reimbursing the district at a rate of 1/260th of her salary per day.
Leaves -
Sick Leave – The Personnel Assistant shall have 18 days of sick leave per year with 240 days of
accumulation. Additional sick leave without loss of pay may be granted at the discretion of the Board
of Education.
Family Illness – In case of sickness in the immediate family, at the discretion of the Superintendent of
Schools, the Personnel Assistant may be allowed five days leave to be deducted from cumulative sick
leave.
Personal Leave – Five days of personal leave per year shall be granted without salary deduction for
the Personnel Assistant to meet personal obligations. Unused personal leave days, up to two will be
added to sick leave credits.
Leave of Absence – The Personnel Assistant may request a leave of absence without pay. It is
understood that such leave approval is at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools.
Bereavement – Bereavement leave for immediate family shall be five (5) days and in extenuating
circumstances, extended as approved by the Superintendent of Schools. Immediate family shall be
defined as children of employees, parents, husband, wife, sisters, brothers, or a permanent member
of the employee’s household. A period not to extend three (3) days shall be granted to an employee
whose absence is caused by the death of a relative other than the immediate family, i.e., an aunt,
uncle, niece, nephew, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, parents-in-law, grandparents and first cousins.
Bereavement leave shall not exceed 10 days for the school year.
Jury Duty – The Personnel Assistant shall be granted a leave without salary deduction when
necessary for serving on jury duty. During this period, the Personnel Assistant shall receive her
regular daily salary. She will remit directly to the Board of Education the daily fee received for each
day’s jury service (not expense reimbursement) at the conclusion of all service.
Professional Leave - Leave shall be granted without loss of pay for leave time for attendance at
approved professional meetings, conferences, and workshops approved by the Superintendent of
Schools or his designee for professional improvement.
Emergency Closing Days - At the discretion of the Superintendent, you may be asked to make up
excess Emergency Closing Days.
Benefits:
Health Insurance – The Personnel Assistant will have the opportunity to participate in the health
insurance program offered by the Board of Education. The contribution by the employee will be 14%
effective July 1 through June 30.
Dental Insurance – The district shall provide at no cost to the Personnel Assistant the family CSEA
Dutchess Dental Plan.
Optical Insurance – The district will provide at no cost to the Personnel Assistant the family CSEA
Gold Optical Plan.
Disability Insurance – The Board will also provide disability insurance for the Personnel Assistant as
now covered through the policy of the Administrative unit. The Personnel Assistant will receive a
statement from the Business Office if there is a change in the plan.
125 Plan – The Personnel Assistant will receive $300 for the purchase of additional benefits through
the district’s 125 plan.
Tuition Reimbursement – The district will provide the Personnel Assistant, with prior approval from
the Assistant Superintendent for Business, reimbursement for courses taken that are relevant to her
position.
Retirement Benefits:
Health Insurance – If the Personnel Assistant retires from the district into the NYS Retirement
System, she will have the opportunity to participate in the health insurance program during retirement
as offered by the Board of Education.
If the retiree accepts an individual plan, the Board will contribute to the premium as follows:
After the completion of 8 years of service in the position, 70% of the individual premium;
After the completion of 10 years of service in the position, 80% of the individual premium.
If the retiree chooses family coverage, the premium differential above and beyond the individual plan
will be as follows:
35% by the Board of Education;
65% by the Retiree.
To be eligible for retiree health coverage, the Personnel Assistant will give advance written notice to
the Superintendent of Schools of her intention to retire by January 1 of a given year for a June 30
retirement (6 months’ notice).
The provisions of the minimum of eight years of service in the district and advanced written notice
may be waived upon permission of the Superintendent of Schools if the employee has a serious
illness or other unavoidable personal circumstances.
This will include Medicare Part B premium reimbursement at the standard base rate only when she
becomes qualified.
Retirement – Non-Contributory 20-Year Career Plan – The Personnel Assistant will be covered by
section 75-1 of the New York State Employees Retirement System.
Unused Sick Leave – Application of unused sick leave as additional service credit upon retirement
(sections 41J and 341J). The Personnel Assistant will be allowed to earn and accumulate sick leave
credit to a limit of 260 days.
Payment for Accumulated Sick Days – The district shall pay for each accumulated sick day beyond
100 and up to a maximum of 145 at the rate of $60 per day to the Personnel Assistant at the time of
her retirement.
Tax Sheltered Annuities - The Croton-Harmon School District uses OMNI to administer the
tax-sheltered annuities. The district reserves the right to limit the number of eligible companies to
which the staff member can make contributions and will make every effort to maintain the current list
of eligible accounts.
Life Insurance – The district will provide life insurance in the amount of $25,000 for the Personnel
Assistant.
Salary – The Personnel Assistant’s progress will be evaluated on a yearly basis and the salary
established annually. The salary for 2026-2027 will be $66,500. The standard work day will be 7
hours for the purpose of the retirement system.
Longevity – Longevity increments based on years of service in the position shall be:

The longevity increment will become part of the annual salary for the following year and are
cumulative.
Legal Counsel - In addition to those rights provided by law, the Board agrees to provide legal counsel
and to indemnify the Personnel Assistant against all uninsured financial loss arising out of any claim,
demand, suit, or judgment by reason of alleged negligence or other conduct resulting in bodily or other
injury to any person, or damage to the property of any person committed while the Personnel
Assistant is acting in the performance of her duties within the scope of her employment, or under the
direction of the Board, consistent with and subject to the provisions of Board Policy 9110. This
obligation shall supplement and be in addition to any rights which the Personnel Assistant may have
arising under the laws of the State of New York, including, but not limited to, Education Law 3023,
3028, 3811, 3813, and Article 18 of the Public Officers Law.
Review of Personnel History Folder – The Personnel Assistant shall have the opportunity to review
her personnel history folder upon request. Material descriptive of the Personnel Assistant’s conduct,
service, character, or personality shall not be placed in the personnel file unless she has had an
opportunity to review the material. The Personnel Assistant shall acknowledge that she has had an
opportunity to review such material by affixing her signature to the copy to be filed with the express
understanding that such signature in no way indicates agreement with the contents thereof. The
Personnel Assistant will also have the right to submit a written statement with respect to such material
and such statement shall be reviewed with the Assistant Superintendent and attached to the
Personnel Assistant’s file.
Resignation - If the Personnel Assistant resigns from the Croton-Harmon UFSD, she will give the
district a 30-day notice.
