To: From: Date: November 6, 2024 Re: 1 Croton Point Avenue Development On October 2, 2024, a meeting with WBP Development and a number of Village officials was held to discuss the fire department’s response to the 1 Croton Point Avenue development plans. In attendance were Mayor Brian Pugh, Village Engineer Dan O’Connor, Fire Chief Joshua Karpoff and myself from the Village, along with John Bainlardi from WBP, Michael Bevivino from Arketekcher and Rich Williams from Insite Engineering. At the meeting, we discussed the preference of the fire department to have a machine room hydraulic elevator to ensure access to the necessary equipment in case of elevator rescues. It was also discussed that a condition be added to require the bike storage room have a 3-hour fire rating due to the increasing amount of lithium-ion battery fires. The fire apparatus turning plan was reviewed and determined to be acceptable based on the example apparatus used. The vehicle height clearance for the garage was discussed to see if any potential changes could be made to allow some smaller FD vehicles access. The fire department has requested that an additional hydrant be installed in front of the building which will be accommodated. The location of standpipes in the building to maximize access was also discussed. The building is being designed to be solar-ready, which the fire department is prepared to handle; however, solar panels may not be installed immediately as there may be some system capacity issues in the area.
