" The County of Westchester comprises a very important section of this State; washed on the west by the Hudson, on the south by the East River and Long Island Sound, it enjoys very superior advantages for trade and commerce, with a fine soil for agriculture, and a charming diversity of surface and of elegant situation ; while its contiguity to the great commercial metropolis of North America, completes a proud superiority of geographical position.
