Madam Bearmore was interviewed on October 21, 1847; Thomas Currie (Curry), the only other person interviewed that day, was also a resident of Cortlandt. BEARMORE, Gilbert Gilbert Bearmore is listed as a 67-year-old shoemaker in the Town of Harrison, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. The tombstone of "Gilbert Barmore" in White Plains Rural Cemetery in White Plains, New York, indicates that he died on August 23, 1854, in his 71st year (WCHS Book #38, p.6).
BELCHER, _____ (Mrs. Elisha) See BELCHER, Lydia BELCHER, Lydia Lydia Reynolds Belcher was a daughter of Horton Reynolds, whose home in Greenwich, Connecticut, was raided by Refugee cavalry commanded by Major Thomas Huggeford while it was serving as headquarters of Colonel Levi Wells of the Connecticut Militia.
