Dear Bryan Healy:
Thank you for your correspondence to the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT)
regarding trees along State Route 129 in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, Westchester County.
NYSDOT highway maintenance personnel routinely patrol and inspect the state highway system
making note of potential issues that need to be addressed. These issues include, but are not limited
to potholes, damaged guiderail, trees in need of trimming or removal, obstructions along the side of
the road causing sight distance issues and damaged signs. A list of trees that need to be removed is
generated and a plan of action is developed. NYSDOT utilizes specialized, in-house tree crews and
private tree contractors to remove trees on a routine basis.
