I'm sure my name and email is familiar to many of you as I have been complaining about commuter parking for years. I am unable to make the meeting this week, please fell free to present this letter. The parking issue is not just about having a convenient place to park. Its more about quality of life. If your bedroom window faces the street, you are awaken by the chirps of people locking their car, there is the occasional argument or loud discussion, moving of recycle bins, loud mufflers on "station cars", etc. These issues are prominent during spring and fall days when people like to sleep with windows open to get some fresh air. Not a great way to start your day. Not having your leaves picked up because a commuter is parked in front of them is annoying as well as not having the front of your house plowed due to a commuter not knowing the parking restrictions during a snow event. Fortunately, the DPW is amazing and one time when I pointed out this issue, they made a special trip to rectify the situation. I urge you to vote for the same restrictions on Hastings from Benedict to Oneida as residents on Hastings between Benedict and Devon enjoy. I also request you consider the other streets which requested this restriction through the survey, they commuters will simply move to non-restricted areas. Thank you for your time and consideration. The people who frequent Harmon businesses do not park for long periods of time. Why should residents be penalized for choosing to live in one part of town over another? Why will Harmon residents have to pay for more than two cars? Why are families with older children being penalized? Our driveway holds one car with a car in the garage. We cannot accommodate all our family's cars. While a $10 fee is truly de minimus, requiring people to pay to park on their own street is unfair. People on Mt. Airey are not paying to park on the street. The whole point of this is: Why are you seeing a problem When There Is No Problem?
