I give, as near as I can recollect, his own words : In a walk through the fields I came to a wheat stubble covered with a dense growth of Ambrosia, Artimisircfolia, in a state just ready to discharge its pollen. I hestitated, but finally concluded to cross ; at once I found great difficulty in breathing and when I reached the other side, I was completely prostrated and was obliged to sit for some time, and the experiment was followed by one of the most severe attacks of Hay Fever I have ever experienced.
