mother. Villa Amanda estate in Ardsley-on-Hudson, New York. The Ardsley retreat had been built by Cyrus Field for his daughter in the 1860s. Field led the Atlantic Telegraph Company, which laid the first cable across the Atlantic Ocean in 1858.
