JOSIAH GILBERT died Oct. 25, 1858, in the 72 year of his age For forty-five years he was a member and thirty -six years an elder of the Presbyterian Church.

A short distance north of the Presbyterian church, on land now owned by the heirs of Linus Hoyt, formerly stood a small wooden structure celebrated as the temporary prison of Major John Andre, adjutantgeneral of the British army.
