PAULDING, John (Colonel) John Paulding was a nephew of John Paulding, one of the three captors of British Major John André. The captor was a brother of the interviewee's father, William. According to genealogist Grenville Mackenzie, this John Paulding was born in 1787. A petition for probate was filed with the Westchester County Surrogate Court on October 8, 1862 (Westchester County Wills Liber 45, p.514). The McDonald Interviews: Interviewees PECK, James James Peck told John Macdonald that he was born on December 13, 1777. PECK, Solomon John Macdonald indicated that Solomon Peck was 84 years old at the time of his interview on November 24, 1849. PETERSON, John (John Patterson) John Peterson was also known as John Patterson and Jack Patterson. In an interview, he indicates that his actual surname was Patterson. POST, Frederick Frederick Post's tombstone in Saint John's Cemetery in Yonkers, New York, indicates that he died on May 24, 1850, aged 87 years, 6 months, and 8 days (WCHS Book #86, p.113). PURDY, James James Purdy was a son of Elisha Purdy and Mehitabel Smith (Grenville Mackenzie, "Families of the Colonial Town of Philipsburgh," Typescript in WCHS Library, p.562-567). His tombstone in White Plains Rural Cemetery in White Plains, New York, indicates that he died on March 30, 1850, aged 85 years (WCHS Book #38, p.105).
