Lydia Reynolds Belcher was a daughter of Horton Reynolds, whose home in Greenwich, Connecticut, was raided by Refugee cavalry commanded by Major Thomas Huggeford while it was serving as headquarters of Colonel Levi Wells of the Connecticut Militia. John Macdonald indicated that Thaddeus Bell was 89 years old at the time of his interview on November 3, 1847. He is listed as a 91-year-old farmer in the Town of Darien, Connecticut, in the 1850 United States Census. Nicholas Berrian's tombstone in Berrian Cemetery in Bronx, New York, indicated that he died on March 3, 1844, aged 76 years, 6 months and 8 days (WCHS Book #80, p.38). The tombstone no longer exists, as the remains in the Berrian Cemetery were moved to Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York.

He is listed as an 89-year-old farmer in the Town of Harrison, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. His tombstone in Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, New York, indicates that he was born on February 8, 1762, and died on September 7, 1850 (WCHS Book #15, p.31; #33, p.22).
