FERRIS, ____ (Mrs. Thomas) Mary Ann Ferris was the wife of Thomas Ferris of the Westchester County Militia. She is listed as a 96-year-old resident of the Town of North Castle, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. Her tombstone in Middle Patent Rural Cemetery in North Castle indicates that she died on June 2, 1851, aged 90 years, 11 months, and 4 days (WCHS Book #23A, p.48).
FERRIS, Samuel (or North Castle)
Samuel Ferris was a son of interviewee Mary Ann Ferris. His father, Thomas Ferris, served in the Westchester County Militia. He is listed as a 52-year-old resident of the Town of North Castle, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. His tombstone in White Plains Rural Cemetery in White Plains, New York, indicates that he was born on January 27, 1798, and died on December 17, 1882 (WCHS Book #38, p.39).
FERRIS, Samuel (or Stanwich, Connecticut)
John Macdonald indicated that Samuel Ferris turned 76 years old on August 10, 1848. He is listed as a 77-year-old farmer in the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut, in the 1850 United States Census. His tombstone in Middle Patent Rural Cemetery in North Castle, New York, indicates that he died on October 28, 1858, aged 85 years, 2 months, and 11 days (WCHS Book #23, p.66).
FIELD, Jane
Jane Haviland Field was the widow of Aaron Field. She told John Macdonald that she was born in the Fall of 1765. Her tombstone in the Purchase Friends Meeting House Cemetery in Purchase, New York, indicates that she was born on November 11, 1765, and died on November 8, 1860 (WCHS Book #85, p.32).
