The tombstone of that Joseph Coles in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Yonkers indicates that he was born in 1787 and died in 1857 (WCHS Book #86, p. 35).

DEVOE, Hannah Hannah Devoe was the wife of interviewee Joshua Devoe. John Macdonald indicated that she turned 90 years old in May 1847. Her husband, Joshua Devoe, is listed as a head of household in the Town of Greenburgh, New York, in the 1840 United States Census. The one free white female aged 80-89 in this household was presumably the interviewee.
