COLES, Joseph Joseph Coles indicates that he was a native of Oyster Bay, New York. CORSA, Andrew Andrew Corsa was selected by Cornelius Oakley and John Oakley to help guide the American and French forces during their reconnaissance into present-day Bronx County in July 1781. Because of this, he was considered by John Macdonald to be one of the Westchester Guides. He is listed as an 88-year-old farmer in the Town of West Farms, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. His tombstone in Saint John's Cemetery in Yonkers, New York, indicates that he was born on November 21, 1852, aged 90 years, 9 months, and 29 days (WCHS Book #86, p.35).
