LYON, James James Lyon served in the Westchester County Militia during the Revolutionary War. He is listed as an 88-year-old farmer in the Town of Yonkers, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. His tombstone in Saint John's Cemetery in Yonkers indicates that he died on January 27, 1856, aged 92 years and 20 days (WCHS Book #96, p. 90).

LYON, Martha Martha Banks Lyon was the wife of interviewee James Lyon. She told John Macdonald that she was 88 years old at the time of her interview on November 4, 1848. Her tombstone in Buxton Cemetery in Bedford, New York, indicates that she died on July 21, 1849, aged 85 years and 18 days (WCHS Book #3A, p. 215).

LYON, Phoebe Phoebe Merritt Lyon was a sister of Loyalists Shubael Merritt and Thomas Merritt. She told John Macdonald that she was born on July 22, 1768. She is listed as an 82-year-old resident of the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut, in the 1850 United States Census. Her tombstone in the Lyon-Rawson Cemetery in Greenwich indicates that she died on March 31, 1855 (WCHS Book #15, p. 76).

LYON, Samuel (or Chestnut Ridge) Samuel Lyon is occasionally referred to as Samuel Lyons. He is listed as the son of Major Samuel Lyon of the Westchester County Militia. He is listed as a 62-year-old farmer in the Town of North Castle, New York, in the 1850 United States Census.
