PETERSON, John (John Patterson) John Peterson was also known as John Patterson and Jack Patterson. In an interview, he indicates that his actual surname was Patterson. His obituary in the Westchester Herald indicates that he died on October 2, 1850, aged 103 years. See "Jack Peterson." Westchester Herald, Ossining, N.Y., December 24, 1850.
POST, Frederick Frederick Post's tombstone in Saint John's Cemetery in Yonkers, New York, indicates that he died on May 24, 1850, aged 87 years, 6 months, and 8 days (WCHS Book #86, p. 113).
PURDY, James James Purdy was a son of Elisha Purdy and Menitabel Smith (Granville Mackenzie, "Families of the Colonial Town of Philipsburgh," Typescript in WCHS Library, p. 562- 567). His tombstone in White Plains Rural Cemetery in White Plains, New York, indicates that he died on March 30, 1850, aged 85 years (WCHS Book #38, p.105).
PURDY, Roger Roger Purdy's tombstone in the Blind Brook Burial Ground (Milton Cemetery) in Rye, New York, indicates that he died on August 24, 1846, aged 93 years and 5 months (WCHS Book #15, p.58).
PUTNEY, Joshua John Macdonald indicated that Joshua Putney was 84 years at the time of his interview on October 18, 1848. He is listed as an 86-year-old resident of the Town of Cortlandt, New York, in the 1850 United States Census.
QUINBY, Josiah John Macdonald indicated that Josiah Quinby was 85 years old at the time of his interview on October 25, 1848. Quinby told John Macdonald that he was born in 1763. According to genealogist Henry Cole Quinby, Josiah Quinby was born on November 1, 1763, and died on either June 1, 1852, or February 5, 1853.
