QUINBY, Josiah John Macdonald indicated that Josiah Quinby was 85 years old at the time of his interview on October 25, 1848. Quinby told John Macdonald that he was born in 1763. According to genealogist Henry Cole Quinby, Josiah Quinby was born on November 1, 1763, and died on either June 1, 1852, or February 5, 1853. QUINTARD, Isaac John Macdonald indicated that Isaac Quintard was 84 years old at the time of his interview on November 5, 1847. He is listed as an 87-year-old resident of the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut, in the 1850 United States Census. RANDALL, ____ (Mr.) Mr. Randall is likely John Randall, the son of Jonathan Randall. Jonathan Randall purchased the island known as Montresor's Island from Samuel Ogden in 1784. This island is now known as Randall's Island. John Randall told John Macdonald that he was born in 1772. "John Randall" is listed as a 77-year-old gentleman in the 12th Ward of New York City in the 1850 United States Census. The death notice for "John Randall, Esq." in The Evening Post indicates that he died on November 5, 1850, "in the 79th year of his age" (The Evening Post, New York, N.Y., November 6, 1850). A petition for probate for "John Randall" of New York City was filed with the New York County Surrogate's Court on January 3, 1851 (New York County Wills Liber 91, p.377).
