Nelson Schofield is listed as a head of household in the Town of Mamaroneck, New York, in the 1830 United States Census. The one free white male aged 60-69 in this household was presumably the interviewee. SCHUREMAN, John John Schureman told John Macdonald that he was born in 1776. He is listed as an 84- year-old farmer in the Town of New Rochelle, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. A petition for probate was filed with the Westchester County Surrogate's Court on May 9, 1853 (Westchester County Wills Liber 34, p. 504).
