He is listed as a 76-year-old farmer in the Town of Yonkers, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. His tombstone in Saint John's Cemetery in Yonkers indicates that he died on January 2, 1858, aged 84 years and 4 months (WCHS Book #40, p. 174).

SMITH, Charles Charles Smith was a son of Captain Charles Smith of the Connecticut Militia. The mortality schedule for the 1850 United States Census for the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut, lists a Charles Smith, who died in 1850 at the age of 84.
SMITH, Joshua Joshua Smith is listed as an 84-year-old farmer in the Town or North Castle, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. His tombstone in Middle Patent Rural Cemetery in North Castle indicates that he died on December 27, 1856, aged 89 years (WCHS Book #23, p. 15e).
SMITH, Martin Martin Smith was a nephew of Isaac Van Wart, one of the three captors of British Major John André. His mother, Anna Van Wart, was Isaac Van Wart's sister (see Grenville Mackenzie, "Families of the Colonial Town of Philipsburgh," Typescript in WCHS Library, p. 829 and 760). He is listed as a 65-year-old farmer and innkeeper in the Town of Greenburgh, New York, in the 1850 United States Census.
