He is listed as a 65-year-old farmer and innkeeper in the Town of Greenburgh, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. SMITH, Mary John Macdonald indicated that Mary Lockwood Smith was "aged 84 and upwards" at the time of her interview on November 12, 1849. She is listed as an 85-year-old resident of the Town of North Castle, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. Her tombstone in Middle Patent Cemetery in North Castle indicates that she was born on August 26, 1780, and died on February 1, 1850 (WCHS Book #23A, p. 49).
SOULICE, Joshua Joshua Soulice is listed as an 81-year-old resident of the Town of New Rochelle, New York, in the 1850 United States Census. His tombstone in Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery in New Rochelle indicates that he was born on July 13, 1768, and died on November 30, 1857 (WCHS Book #18, p. 40).
STEVENSON, ____ (Mrs.) Mrs. Stevenson is likely Ann Stevenson. She told John Macdonald that she was 88 years old at the time of her interview on October 23, 1849. She is listed as an 89-year-old native of Scotland residing in the 6th Ward of New York City in the 1850 United States Census. Also residing in the same household at the time is her son, 58-year-old Dr. John B. Stevenson, whom it appears Macdonald unsuccessfully sought to interview.
